        Are you concerned about or interested in the changes in Medicare and your medigap coverage as a result of the Affordable Care Act? Is the Medicare Part D open enrollment period relevant for you? Find out what healthcare reform means for you. Welcome our SHIBA representatives, their presentation and answers to your questions:
  • Carolyn Smith, Field Supervisor, and Terri Osborne, Regional Trainer, for the Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) with the Office of the Insurance Commissioner
  • Marjorie Stewart, SHIBA Coordinator, Olympic Area Agency on Aging

  • After a break, Lauren Newcomer, RN, BSN, Director of Quality and Operational Improvement for Harrison Medical Center and Member of the Kitsap County Cross Continuum Care Transitions Project (KC4TP) will report on quality measures used at Harrison in response to new Medicare mandates resulting from the Affordable Care Act, including those associated with the KC4TP. As part of this initiative, local health providers, facilities and local support agencies collaborate to enhance communication across the continuum of care, better inform patients and families, improve care outcomes and reduce hospital readmission rates.
