- Senior Corps
Americans over 55 have a lifetime of experience to share, and the desire to make a real difference in their world. They’ve managed households, been business owners and nurses, farmers and salespeople, artists and executives. Now they are ready to put their unique talents and expertise to work in their communities, and enrich their own lives in the process.
Senior Corps connects today’s over 55s with the people and organizations that need them most. We help them become mentors, coaches or companions to people in need, or contribute their job skills and expertise to community projects and organizations.

There are seventeen Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) projects in Washington State serving thirty-one of the state's thirty-nine counties. Members of RSVP are at least 55 years of age; there is no upper age limit. These projects are sponsored by non-profit organizations and local government agencies.
RSVP volunteers serve in schools to increase reading and math comprehension of elementary and high school students; provide instruction and guidance to teen parents; organize neighborhood residents in a wide variety of public safety projects; in cooperation with the State Insurance Commissioner, counsel elders about health insurance and related matters through the Senior Health Insurance Benefit Advisors (SHIBA) program; educate the public concerning methods whereby environmental concerns can be addressed by recycling and the purchase of products that result in less waste of packaging materials.
These are merely a few examples of the valuable community service that is provided by the nearly 16,000 volunteers of RVSP.
